Our valued client, a local entity in the government sector in Baton Rouge, LA, is seeking a strategic leader to join their team as the Director of Finance.

This position is a critical role to the organization, a member of the executive team and will be play an integral role in the delivering the organizational mission. The individual will need to be someone who has the following:

The Director of Finance has full accountability in directing all financial activities of the organization's funding. This is an executive level position is responsible for planning, developing and administering broad financial policies and procedural improvements throughout the organization. The individual will be responsible to prepares the organization's budget, financial reporting, policy, and will present and advise the commission and leadership team, to ensure financial stability and legal compliance.

What you'll need to be successful:

  • Bachelor’s degree required in Accounting or related field, Master’s degree strongly preferred
  • CPA (Certified Public Accountant) - active CPA strongly preferred
  • 6+ years' experience in accounting or finance, 4+ years in a leadership capacity
  • Government accounting experience preferred (if no experience, but be willing to quickly learn governmental accounting through training courses and other resources)
  • Extensive knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) required
  • Knowledge of Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB), practices of public financial administration with emphasis on automated accounting systems, budgeting and financial reporting preferred
  • Prior experience leading significant projects such as ERP implementation preferred; demonstration of leading effective change required.
