Education Foundation Scholarship Contributions

Each year Louisiana CPA’s Education Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, offers scholarships to benefit accounting majors in Louisiana. Scholarships are generously funded through private donations from our members. Some donations are contributed with annual dues renewals, and others are made as memorial scholarships, named in honor of a CPA member. To date, LCPA has awarded more than $318,700.

Both under-grad and post-grad scholarships are presented to qualifying full-time accounting majors enrolled in Louisiana universities. Applicants must be LCPA student members and have the intention of pursing the CPA designation and remaining in Louisiana upon graduation. Applications are carefully reviewed by members of LCPA’s Career Awareness Committee, and are scored on grade point average, letters of recommendation, and an essay on a specified topic. Students can use funds to offset education-related expenses, such as tuition, books, exam prep courses, etc.

Scholarships Are Essential to Attracting Top Talent

With recent and future expected state budget cuts to the TOPS program in Louisiana, and rising education expenses, members’ financial support of the Education Foundation’s scholarship program is needed more than ever to attract and retain top talent to the profession.

Scholarships can be established as a memorial to honor a deceased loved one or associate, or as a tribute to a living individual in honor of a special occasion. For more details on memorial scholarships, contact Ann Lupo, 504.904.1125.

“Thanks to this generous award, I am able to finish my studies and prepare to sit for the CPA Exam. Without scholarship patrons like members of the LCPA, there would be many students such as myself unable to pursue the career they have dreamed of. I am looking forward to a day when I will be able to return the same favor to our future generations of talented accounting students.”
