October 19, 2022

Logging Industry Grants on First-Come, First-Serve Basis Application Deadline Oct 31

Louisiana State Treasurer John M. Schroder has reached out to LCPA to let members know loggers relief grant funds are still available. The program calls for one-time grants to be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. Treasurer Schroder encourages all those in the timber harvesting and timber hauling industries who suffered an economic loss due to the pandemic and were not previously awarded a grant under the Louisiana Loggers Relief program to apply as soon as possible.

The Legislature allocated a total of $5M for this second round of the program through Act 497 of the 2022 Regular Legislative Session. The maximum grant amount is $25,000. The legislation called for several eligibility changes to this round of the program, allowing for some businesses that were denied funding previously to now qualify. Also, priority will be given to those who previously applied for but did not receive a grant under the first round of the program.

Qualifying businesses must have experienced a loss of gross revenue for the period of January 1, 2020, through December 31, 2020, as compared to the gross revenue of the business during the same period in 2019.

Applications must be made via the online portal. The deadline to apply is October 31, 2022.

Full eligibility requirements, FAQs including documents required to apply, the application portal and contact information for questions can be found at LATreasury.com under the “Screens/Loggers” tab. The application form on the portal for “Act 410 Grant Applications – Louisiana Main Street Recovery Program” is the correct application for the Louisiana Loggers Relief program.
