2020 Summer Education Conference

Presented with the Alabama Society of CPAs

July 20-24 • The Lodge at Gulf State Park, Gulf Shores, AL

A good-natured getaway.

The Summer Education Conference is moving! Our annual beach conference is going green and moving to the eco-friendly, sustainably designed Lodge at Gulf State Park.

Masterfully appointed with all the modern amenities, every aspect of the property has been redesigned to also be respectful of the land and creatures around it. As for activities, the Lodge is steps away from 28 miles of hiking and biking trails and its beachfront location provides easy access to a host of water activities, so whether you want to get your long run in, kayak the Gulf, or simply lounge on the beach, there is something for every activity level.

As always, we’ll offer 4 hours of CPE each morning, leaving you free to enjoy your afternoons and evenings. Mark your calendar and make plans to join us this summer!

The Lodge features:

Plus Gulf State Park offers dozens of weekly activities, like guided beach walks and star-gazing, opportunities to “meet” local wildlife (owls, turtles, snakes, etc.), fitness classes, pickleball, and more! CLICK HERE for a current list of the park’s weekly activities.*
* Additional fees may apply.

Reserve without reservation.

As we get closer to the event date, we are optimistic that this conference will go on as planned, and in a safe way. The beaches are private, so it will be easy to enjoy your own area. We will be adding additional meeting room capacity so we can put more space between attendees. The hotel staff will be taking measures to make sure guests can adhere to social distancing guidelines during check-in, in common spaces, and while doing activities.

However, if conditions are still unsafe and it becomes necessary to cancel, LCPA will issue full refunds. In addition, The Lodge will allow cancellations up to 5 days before the check-in date for full refunds.

So, reserve with confidence and book your room today. Fingers crossed we will all get to see each other in July. Until then, be well.

2020 Accounting & Auditing Update for the Real World

Jim Martin, CPA, CGMA • Martin & Co., CPA, PC • Atlanta, GA

The course is presented from the perspective of a small firm practitioner who services or works for non-publicly traded entities. Most of the class time will be spent discussing the standards that, in the instructor’s 33 years of experience, have the broadest application to the local practitioner. As always, the floor is also open to discuss whatever current accounting and auditing topics the class participants may want to cover. It’s a complete, thorough, and fast-moving review of all things privately held A&A!

A global pandemic with layoffs, furloughs, and businesses in jeopardy overnight. Even the best-laid staffing plans have been thrown right out of the ring in this round.
