2019 Medical and Healthcare Services Workshop

October 18 • Renaissance Hotel

Relief for your pain points.

Trying to keep up with what’s going on in healthcare can be agonizing. Uncertainty in regulations, changing business models, and the turbulent political climate all clash to create headaches for practitioners and patients alike. Let us take some of the pressure off. We’ll present updates on crucial pain points — like ransomware, automation, HIPAA risk management, and the new lease standard — and offer up some relief in the form of best practices and solid guidance from industry leaders. Whether you work for a healthcare provider or related entity, or serve healthcare clients, this event is not to be missed.

The Transformation of Healthcare Toward Value-Based Care

Kenny J. Cole, MD, MHCDS • System VP of Clinical Improvement – Ochsner Health System • New Orleans, LA

The presentation will discuss how healthcare is in the midst of a major strategic inflection point, where providers, hospitals, and health systems will be increasingly incentivized to move from a volume-driven, transaction-based system, to a value-driven, outcomes-based system. The challenge for these stakeholders will be in how to remain financially viable as volume-driven utilization is reduced. Fear and uncertainty regarding rationing of care must also be adequately addressed by evolving payment models. To that end, we will discuss issues such as accountable care organizations, pay-for-performance, shared savings/risk, capitated payments, bundled payments, and direct-to-employer contracting.

8:50 – 9:40 am

Healthcare Updates From a Former CEO and Current Deal-Maker

Keith LeBlanc • Chaffe & Associates, Inc. • New Orleans, LA

Healthcare is a daily news item, a complicated business model, and it is continually changing. Insurance premiums, patient deductibles, and co-pays are all rising disproportionally combined with mounting consumerism—all of which are affecting how we access care. This presentation will review our current system, compare the US to other countries, and outline the trends affecting the M&A market. We will also review valuation multiples, deal volume, and trends for the near future.

Thinking Automation First

Roy Donaldson • UiPath • Dallas, TX

Healthcare and finance professionals are increasingly burdened with repetitive and time-consuming tasks that are raising costs and reducing productivity. Unstructured documents and historical data continue to slow down accuracy and speed of financial processes like RCM. RPA provides a new way of working, where each person works with a digital assistant. By thinking 'automation first' and letting robots learn skills through artificial intelligence and machine learning, healthcare and finance professionals can improve customer satisfaction, reduce cycle time, and focus on the most valuable and impactful tasks.
