Webcast: Making Sense of the Recent Banking Craziness – What Your Organization and Clients Need to Know
Overview
The implosion of Silicon Valley Bank sent shockwaves through the financial system. The collapse panicked markets, piling pain on weaker financial institutions already struggling with the unintended consequences of soaring interest rates and self-inflicted wounds. Within a week, a second US regional bank — Signature Bank — has been shut down, a third — First Republic Bank (FRC) — has been propped up, and the first major threat since 2008 to a bank of global financial significance — Credit Suisse — has been averted, at least for now.
How did this happen? And what are the short- and long-term consequences? Are Louisiana banks and businesses at risk? Join us for a candid discussion of the current state of the banking industry and walk away with information to help you answer questions that might arise from business leaders and/or clients you work with.
This webcast will cover:
- An update on the banking industry for non-bankers
- What caused the recent failures?
- Are community banks in Louisiana at risk?
- What should CPAs know to protect their organization/employer?
- What should CPAs know to answer questions from their clients?
