Young CPA Board
Hi Everyone,
I’d like to welcome you to our Young CPA page. The LCPA’s
Young CPA Board is in our fourth year of existence now and have grown
leaps and bounds in our focus to grow the profession starting with
our youngest members. During our most recent meeting held at the LCPA
Leadership Conference, May 5-6, 2011, we met with all the board members
to discuss our recent year’s activity and make plans for our
upcoming year. Our goals consist of the following:
1. Add 100 new members in lieu of the LCPA’s Centennial celebration
for 2011
2. Each chapter YCPA Board member visit at least one college accounting
class each semester for the 2011-2012 school year
3. Set up a Young CPA Facebook page and monitor the activity monthly
by adding interesting news articles from Lagniappe, Journal of Accountancy,
or other accounting periodicals
4. Create individual young CPA boards within each chapter
5. Redesign the student membership application for the LCPA to include
updated pictures and information
6. Sponsor an LCPA college membership for each university’s
Beta Alph Psi and NABA student president
We have already strengthened our awareness of the profession in
young CPAs through networking social luncheons and dinners, new CPA
welcome letters, bowling and volleyball tournaments, sponsoring BAP
and NABA meetings, speaking to accounting students on college campuses,
and “speed interviewing” with local CPA firms and other
businesses.
With our nine chapter board members, we hope to make an impact in
all the area university campuses as well as encourage the younger
generation of CPAs to become more involved in our profession. If you
