ACPEN Webcasts

(ACPEN) is in the eleventh year of production continuing professional education for state CPA societies. Each year, ACPEN produces between eight and twelve, full-day teleconferences that provide eight CPE credit hours (400 minutes) in the form of live, interactive video. These teleconferences are beamed by satellite to about 90 to 100 satellite downlinks in about 20 states, sponsored locally by the state CPA society with which Business Professionals Network, Inc. has a working agreement. CPAs gather at these downlinks and watch the live program and ask questions of panelists by calling in or faxing questions, which are responded to by panelists.

In 2003, the Accounting Continuing Professional Education Network (ACPEN) expanded its options for receiving these broadcasts by the addition of live, interactive, internet web casts, provided by CPALearn.com.

Pricing: $195 per webcast.

If you have any questions about the Accounting Professional Education Network (ACPEN) web cast programs, please contact Business Professionals’ Network, Inc. at 972-208-0302.

All Webcast registrations are done by using a link on our Web site – www.lcpa.org.

Partnership Tax Update

As the use of partnerships and LLCs expands, this area of practice is becoming increasingly important to CPAs in private practice and industry.  But the rules are complex and frequently lead to confusion and lost opportunities.  Join our panel of experts to review both the current state of key areas and proposed changes that may dramatically change partnership taxation.  Our program will include basics such as choice of entity and structuring considerations to optimize tax results.  We’ll look at recent legislative changes affecting partnership practitioners.  We’ll also review the Form 1065 and related forms and coming changes to the forms that will allow the IRS to more closely monitor compliance. For the more advanced practitioner, our panel will review basis and allocation rules and show how the structure of the entity can actually affect the allocations among the partners.  Finally, learn how the IRS is proposing to change the rules regarding the receipt of partnership interests for services so that some clients will be taxable on the formation of a partnership or LLC.  Changes are also being proposed to re-characterize some transactions as disguised sales of partnership interests with unintended tax consequences that could force the amendment of prior year returns, if the rules are adopted.
