Our popular Members-Only CPE SmartPass is back! Use your 40-hour SmartPass on your favorite LCPA-sponsored conferences, workshops, seminars, and online courses for one low price. Starting in 2016, the State Board’s rules on reporting CPE hours have changed, and Louisiana licensed CPAs are now required to report CPE hours annually. Your SmartPass helps you get your required hours, take advantage of $100s in potential savings, and pay in one lump sum or in convenient installments.
When can I start using my CPE SmartPass?
Within two business days of your CPE SmartPass purchase, you will receive a unique “promo code” that must be used when registering for your selected CPE online or by phone. This code is required in order for your SmartPass to be applied toward the purchase price, resulting in a $0 balance.
Can I use my CPE SmartPass on two-day conferences or one-day
workshops and seminars?
Yes – and that’s the great value! You can use your SmartPass on any LCPA-sponsored conference, workshop, seminar or online course. Pick your annual favorites or choose a specialty seminar to fine tune your skills. SmartPass cannot be used for chapter courses, LCPA in-house programs, and courses registered and paid for through a vendor-partner website.
Am I required to register for all 40 hours at once?
Not at all. The SmartPass is good for 40 hours, you choose how to use it. Some members find it easier to plan out their CPE events for the entire year, others prefer to select courses as they go. Keep in mind that you must use your assigned promo code in order for your SmartPass to be applied toward the purchase price.
How long is my CPE SmartPass good for?
Each 2016 SmartPass is good for up to 40 CPE hours held on or before April 30, 2017. Once you redeem the total hours of the SmartPass you’ve purchased, you then pay regular member price for any additional CPE.
How do I pay for my CPE SmartPass, and how does the installment plan work?
You can buy a SmartPass anytime. Your SmartPass must be paid in full upon purchase. SmartPasses previously purchased on our installment plan must be paid in full by November 1. According to State Board rules, CPE credit will not be awarded if full payment is not received.
What if I don’t use all my SmartPass hours by April 30, 2017? Can I get a credit and use them for courses I take after that?
Your SmartPass must be used on courses registered for and taken on or before April 30, 2017. Unused hours cannot be carried over into the next dues year, and no refunds will be issued for unused hours.
Can a coworker and I share a SmartPass, or can I give my promo code to someone else if I know I can’t use my total purchased hours?
One SmartPass per person. The promo code you receive when you purchase your SmartPass is unique and linked to your record and cannot
be shared. SmartPass hours are non-transferable and no substitutions allowed.
What if I register for a course with my CPE SmartPass and I'm unable to attend?
If you are unable to attend a course you've registered for with your SmartPass and cancel prior to the course date, the number of hours will be credited back to your SmartPass. No credit of SmartPass hours will be given if you fail to show up without canceling prior to the course date.
Does LCPA still keep track of all my hours?
Yes! The benefit of registering for and taking all your CPE with us means we automatically record all LCPA-sponsored CPE in your transcript — and that makes annual reporting to the State Board even easier.
