Volunteer for the LCPA & JA Financial Literacy Day

To help introduce LCPA members and schools across the state to the benefits of the Junior Achievement experience, the Society’s Financial Literacy Task Force and JA offices in Louisiana have organized a “JA in a Day” – a special one-day event on Wednesday, April 30, 2008, in conjunction with National Financial Literacy Month.
Designed for Kindergarten through 5th grade students, JA in a Day is a unique Junior Achievement experience in that the entire JA elementary school program is covered in the course of one school day. The JA in a Day program start and end times are based on the individual school’s schedule and grade level. A typical schedule may run 9:00 am until 2:30 pm. Schedules will be confirmed with volunteers prior to the event.
Volunteers must complete a short training course through their respective JA chapter and review classroom materials before the event. All course materials are provided by JA at no cost to members. No prior JA or classroom experience is required.
Volunteers can pair off, if desired, in order to share the responsibilities of presenting the program. For Kindergarten through 2nd grade, classes can be taught by a single volunteer. For grades 3 through 5, two volunteers per classroom is suggested. Teachers remain in the classrooms to manage discipline and assist in teaching.
Beta Alpha Psi members and accounting majors are also encouraged to volunteer in this special event.

Volunteers are the backbone of this an all JA efforts. To volunteer in JA in a Day, please complete a volunteer form below. A JA representative will contact you to confirm your participation.
Keep in mind that JA volunteers are needed throughout the school year. If you cannot participate in JA in a Day on April 30, but are interested in getting involved in the more traditional JA activities, please complete the volunteer form and indicate your preference. In the traditional JA model, a volunteer visits a school five to seven times, 30-50 minutes each session depending on the grade level.
