The highest levels of knowledge and competence are inherently tacit-it's the knowledge and experiences people carry with them that are not easily articulated, and difficult and expensive to transmit. Yet, this type of knowledge transfer is important to business success. It's a social process between individuals and is especially important in knowledge organizations, where so much of the intellectual capital happens to be tacit knowledge. Course Description

The highest levels of knowledge and competence are inherently tacit—it's the knowledge and experiences people carry with them that are not easily articulated, and difficult and expensive to transmit. Yet, this type of knowledge transfer is important to business success. It’s a social process between individuals and is especially important in knowledge organizations, where so much of the intellectual capital happens to be tacit knowledge. Learn about one of the most effective ways to capture this knowledge: After Action Review, which captures the lessons learned from past successes and failures, with the goal of improving future performance.

Materials are provided as an ebook for this course.

Objectives

  • Identify how the After Action Reviews transformed the culture in the military.
  • Determine the four questions to ask during an After Action Reviews.
  • Determine the questions to ask in a Before Action Review (BAR).

Major Topics

  • Why tacit knowledge is expensive to transfer and capture.
  • How organizations can leverage their "invisible balance sheet" of intellectual capital to create wealth.
  • How After Action Reviews can transform any culture; reduce fear, risk and anxiety; and allow people to learn from mistakes.
