Consider our 4-part webinar series designed to take you through Excel from A to Z and show you how to elevate your daily use of Excel to the next level. This series will use accounting-centric examples, developed for accountants, by accountants. Part Three of the series focuses on two powerful features within Excel: tables and PivotTables. In this portion of the series, you will learn how to create tables as well as the benefits of using tables as data sources feeding into PivotTables. Additionally, an in-depth discussion on PivotTables will take you from defining a PivotTable, through the PivotTable creation process, simple formatting techniques and finally how to generate user-defined PivotTable calculations. You will also learn how to blend tables and PivotTables together to work with Excel's latest data analytical tool: Data Models.

Objectives

Upon completing this course, you should be able to:

  • Create tables and take advantage of their advanced features, such as dynamic data ranges, structured reference formulas
  • Use tables as automatic re-sizing data sources for Excel objects, including PivotTables
  • Identify the six main elements of a PivotTable report and their use when creating PivotTables
  • Create PivotTables and manipulate data in PivotTables using grouping techniques, modified Field Settings, user-defined calculations, and sorting and filtering options
  • List the key features of working with tables and PivotTables together to generate data models
