Dashboard reporting is rapidly becoming the norm for organizations seeking to improve financial and operational reporting processes; and in this program, you will learn how to create Excel-based dashboards that provide users with real-time access to mission-critical data. Much more than just a program on charting, this course will demonstrate how to put advanced Excel features, such as data queries, Power Query, PivotTables, and even macros, to work so that you can build Excel-based dashboards that will enhance your financial and operational reporting processes.

Objectives

Upon completing this course, you should be able to:

  • Implement building blocks of Excel-based dashboards such as Open Database Connectivity, conditional formatting, tables and data models, defined names and dynamic defined names, form controls, and Excel’s RANK function
  • Identify the processes for creating, formatting, and manipulating charts in Excel; additionally, enhance reader’s comprehension of trends by using Sparklines for trend analysis
  • Define the relevance of and create PivotTables and PivotCharts in Excel-based dashboards for use in dashboards; additionally, apply specific PivotTable and PivotChart features
  • Describe how to assemble an Excel-based dashboard using the techniques learned throughout this program
