How is your organization preparing for the future? Millennials have different professional priorities than your Gen X and Boomer employees, and the generation coming in behind them will be looking for still something else entirely. What is your organization doing to be an attractive place to work so you can hire the best people? And how do you adapt your benefits and workplace policies to appease your 20-somethings and 60-somethings alike AND stay compliant with ever-changing rules? It’s a never-ending challenge, but with the right tools, you just might build an organization that is more innovative, more efficient, more collaborative, and ready for whatever the future holds.

Pay Practice Challenges: The Latest Trends in How Employees Are Rewarded

James T. Stodd, SPHR, SHRM-SCP • JT Stodd & Associates • Baton Rouge, LA

This presentation will address the growing seismic shift in the way employers are rewarding folks today as compared to days in the past.  The intent will be to ensure that CPA’s are informed of the nature and magnitude of this shift, and can properly advise clients and/or other members of organizational leadership. Within the presentation I will address:

  • The ever important position of “pay” in meeting human resource management objectives
  • The lagging growth of base wages and salaries
  • Economic forces that consistently erode the limited gains made by employees in base pay
  • The growing prominence of “variable pay” programs as both rewards and strategic drivers
  • The need for employers to ensure their variable pay programs are both competitive and strategically aligned with business goals.
