Julie Stokes, CPA • LA Representative, District 79 Kenner, LA Julie Stokes was elected Louisiana State Representative for District 79 on March 2, 2013. She serves on the Ways & Means Committee, the Health & Welfare Committee, the Labor & Industrial Relations Committee, and the newly formed Entertainment Industry Development Advisory Commission. She also serves on the Women’s Legislative Advisory Council of the National Conference of State Legislators. Julie is a Certified Public Accountant, working in her family's business, Stokes & Associates. Throughout her career she has been engaged in community service. She has been actively involved with the Jefferson Chamber of Commerce, the University of New Orleans, the Louisiana Society of CPA's, and with various local economic development activities. She has been President of the Chateau Estates Civic Organization, the Accounting and Financial Women’s Alliance, and the Jefferson Young Leaders. Prior to being elected to the Louisiana House of Representatives, Julie was a Commissioner of the Regional Transit Authority and a member of Kenner's Economic Development Committee. Julie resides in Kenner with her husband Larry and their two children, Brandon and Taylor. She has lived in the area her entire life, being educated in the Jefferson Parish Public School System, and attending the University of New Orleans on full scholarship where she received her Bachelor’s of Science in Accounting, Magna Cum Laude.
