The initial career focus of many CPAs is developing technical skills. However, to advance to manager, director or partner, CPAs and financial professionals must understand skills such as subtle nonverbal cues that can give you an advantage in business development and internal staff relations. Understanding nonverbal communication will help you in everything from proposals to final negotiations to mentorship, as well as reduce inconsistent messaging and help you build strong relationships.
This two-hour course is a prerequisite for the small-group, interactive course titled Executive Presentation Presence: Technicians Who Communicate.
- Recognize keys of nonverbal communication.
- Identify insights into how attitude, assumptions and nonverbal behavior help or hinder success.
- Determine how space can disrupt or control a communication situation.
- Identify subtle American workplace communications and how to use them to your advantage.
