Mergers and acquisitions are often ways for companies to grow and survive. M&A activity has grown to new heights, giving CPAs in public practice and industry an opportunity to provide value-added service. However, it doesn't come with it's pitfalls, so you have to be aware of the tax strategies and ramifications associated with the transactions.
Attorney Matthew Miller presents an overview of the M&A process, including:

Miller then will review the tax consequences of a merger/acquisition as it relates to taxable transactions, tax-free transactions, and allocation of the purchase price.

Meet the Speaker
Matthew Miller is a native New Orleanian. Upon graduating from Jesuit High School, Matt attended Loyola University of New Orleans where he received a Bachelor’s of Accountancy. He further pursued the subject at the University of New Orleans where he received a Master’s of Accounting with a concentration in Taxation and later became a practicing accountant. His passion for tax planning then led him to Loyola University of New Orleans’ College of Law where he received his Juris Doctor degree with a Certificate in Taxation. He clerked at Baldwin Haspel Burke & Mayer throughout his tenure at Loyola, but left for a brief period of time to attend the prestigious New York University School of Law, where he received a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Taxation.
