The Baton Rouge Chapter is a great way to be involved in LCPA and connect with other members. (…not to mention all the fame and glory that comes with committee involvement!) This event will give you an opportunity to meet other chapter leaders and ask questions about the kinds of activities and time commitments you’d be signing up for.

The Baton Rouge Chapter has been able to sponsor many social activities and CPE through the dedication of its committee volunteers. Our continued success depends on YOUR PARTICIPATION!

Please take a few minutes to review the committee descriptions, make your selection(s), and contact Norma Berniard with up to three selections by July 21.

Committee Day is FREE for all chapter members and cocktails and hors d’oeuvres will be served.


Choose from the following committees:



  • Accounting & Auditing: This committee is responsible for 4-8 hours of CPE for the annual accounting day.
  • Government: This committee plans continuing education for members employed in the governmental area, being responsible for 4-8 hours of CPE for the annual governmental and non-profit day.
  • Business & Industry: Increased industry member participation on a local level is the goal of this group. Specific projects include 8 hours of industry sponsored CPE.
  • Taxation: This committee is responsible for the annual 8 hour CPE tax day on state and federal tax issues.
  • Technology: This committee is responsible for 4 hours of the annual technology day and/or assisting other committees with technology sections of CPE programs.
  • Social: This committee is responsible for planning and hosting all Chapter-sponsored social functions.
  • Emerging CPAs: This committee coordinates events with local professionals, universities, and high schools. The mission is to Engage, Connect, Promote and Aspire.
  • Golf Tournament: This committee is responsible for planning and hosting our Annual Golf Tournament.
  • Women’s Initiatives: This committee is responsible for planning and hosting 1 to 3 Women’s Initiative meetings during the year.
  • Marketing/Awareness: This committee is responsible for recommending ideas to the Board about better ways to get the word out to our members and the general public about what the BR Chapter does for its members and the community.

How do I volunteer?
Select up to three committees that interest you and email your selections to Norma Berniard by July 21. Be sure to also RSVP for the event in your email. (Attendance at the event is not required in order to volunteer.)

When will committees begin meeting?
The initial committee meeting will be held at 4:00 pm on Wednesday, July 22, 2014, at the Baton Rouge Country Club, Fairway Room (8551 Jefferson Highway).

How often do committees meet?
While every committee is different, they generally meet one or two times per year.
