Northshore Chapter Upcoming Events

Fellow Northshore LCPA Chapter Members;

On behalf of the Board of Directors of the Northshore Chapter, I would like to thank you for your membership in the Northshore Chapter of the LCPA. The primary goals adopted by the Board of Directors for the 2007-2008 year are to increase membership involvement in our Chapter and shape our chapter to be reflective of the dynamic growth and vitality which characterizes our Northshore Region. Our chapter currently has over 600 members. However, attendance at our meetings typically consists of around 30 members.  In order to reach our adopted goals the Board has decided on the following plan of action: 

  1. Develop an annual Calendar of Events. 
  2. Rotate meetings between Mandeville and Hammond/Ponchatoula in 2007/2008.
  3. Rotate meetings between Mandeville, Hammond/Ponchatoula and Slidell in 2008/2009.
  4. Reach out to young CPAs through the newly formed Young CPA Board,
  5. Expand the size of the Board of Directors and
  6. Announce all Board of Directors meetings and open all Board of Directors meetings to the membership.

Our Calendar of Events will include our Annual SLU Student Recruitment Mixer which will take place on September 12, 2007 at the Columbia Theatre in downtown Hammond. This event is a way our chapter aids practitioners in dealing with current staffing shortages as well as provides the students with an opportunity to better understand our profession. Graduating seniors who are majoring in accounting will be invited to the event. The Chapter will pay for their food and drinks.  Brief presentations will be given to the students about the differences between “Big 4” public accounting, public accounting and industry. Please mark you calendars for this important event.

The Chapter will also be adding an annual Legislative Night.   This event will be held on December 6, 2007 in West St. Tammany.
