Robert A. Cerasoli, the nationally recognized father of the Association of Inspectors General (AIG), is the newly elected Inspector General of the City of New Orleans. As New Orleans' first Inspector General, Cerasoli, 59, is shaping the position from the ground up. His duties include investigating fraud, waste, and corruption in city government and among those receiving money from the city; proposing ways to make the government more efficient, and educating city officials about their ethical responsibilities.
Cerasoli possesses a decade of teaching experience in ethics, auditing, oversight, financial management, and anti-corruption practices. He served as the Inspector General for the State of Massachusetts for two five year terms, the maximum allowed by law, from 1991 to 2001. The Massachusetts Inspector General was the first statewide Inspector General position created in the U.S. and the first Inspector General position created outside the federal system. Prior to his terms as the Inspector General for the State of Massachusetts, Cerasoli served in the Massachusetts House of Representatives for over 15 years.
Cerasoli, a native of Quincy, Massachusetts, receive his Bachelor of Arts in government and public administration in 1969 from The American University. In 1988, Cerasoli received a Master of Public Administration from Harvard University.

The LCPA New Orleans Chapter Community Service Committee is sponsoring an event at Ozanam Inn on May 10, 2008. We need both contributions and volunteers for this event.
The contributions (made payable to the New Orleans Chapter and designated for Ozanam Inn) will be given to the Inn to help defray their costs in feeding over 600 indigent men, women, and children daily. The Ozanam Inn also provides shelter for 96 men every night and assist homeless mothers and children with other shelter. Please mail your donations today to the LCPA office (2400 Veterans Blvd, Suite 500, Kenner, LA 70062).
We also need about 8-12 volunteers to help serve lunch on Saturday, May 10, 2008. Dress should be casual and we need to arrive at 11:30 a.m. at 843 Camp Street in New Orleans.

BUSINESS & INDUSTRY - Fosters a networking relationship amongst CPAs employed in industry. Specific projects include monthly luncheons and the Financial Services Spring Luncheon.
CAREER AWARENESS and STUDENT OUTREACH - Promotes the CPA profession to area high schools and universities.
COMMUNITY AWARENESS – Coordinates various community service projects in the New Orleans metropolitan area.
GOVERNMENT & NON-PROFIT - Develops the Governmental and Non-Profit Accounting Forum and the Governmental and Non-Profit Luncheon.
LEGISLATION - Works to keep legislators aware of CPA issues and coordinates the Annual Legislators’ function.
NETWORKING & MEMBER RELATIONS - Plans social activities designed to provide networking opportunities for chapter members.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT - Develops the annual Accounting and Auditing, Tax Update, and Individual and Corporate Income Tax workshops.
TAXATION - Works to keep chapter members informed of tax changes, sponsors the annual Tax Night, and supplements the Society's TV, radio, and telephone tax programming efforts.
UNO CPE - Provides an invaluable service to New Orleans Chapter members –free CPE at UNO. Members assist in obtaining speakers and coordinating seminars.

Chapter Policies: Refunds
for chapter programs are
issued only if the cancellation is received prior to the event
date. Registrants who
do not cancel prior to
an event or CPE program and fail to show up are responsible for
the entire program
fee.
Any PARTICIPANTS wanting to claim CLE credit (either in addition
to or in lieu of CPE credit) are responsible for any extra
costs involved in qualifying the course1 for CLE credit with
the Louisiana Bar Association.
