The Baton Rouge Chapter has been able to sponsor many social activities and CPE through the dedication of its committee volunteers. Our continued success depends on YOUR PARTICIPATION!

Please take a few minutes to review the committee descriptions, make your selection, and return the completed form to Norma Berniard at the Society office by July 19, 2010.  If you need additional information about a particular committee function, feel free to call me or another board member.  The kick-off Committee Day event will be held on July 22, 2010, at the Baton Rouge Country Club (8551 Jefferson Hwy.) and is FREE for all chapter members.  The meeting will be from 4:00-5:30 pm. Cocktails and Hors d’Oeuvres will be served.

CPE COMMITTEES
Accounting & Auditing
This committee is responsible for 8 hours of CPE for the annual accounting day.

Government
This committee plans continuing education for members employed in the governmental area, being responsible for 4 hours of CPE for the annual governmental and technology day.

Business & Industry
Increased industry member participation on a local level is the goal of this group.  Specific projects include 8 hours of industry sponsored CPE.

Taxation
This committee is responsible for the annual 8 hour CPE tax day and Louisiana tax update.

Technology
This committee is responsible for 4 hours of the annual governmental and technology day and assisting other technology CPE programs.

OTHER COMMITTEES
Social
This committee is responsible for planning and hosting all Chapter- sponsored social events.

Young CPAs
This committee coordinates events with local universities to promote the profession.

Golf Tournament
This committee is responsible for planning and hosting our Annual Golf Tournament.

How can I choose a committee appointment?  By completing the form in this brochure and promptly returning it to the Society.  Please also complete the RSVP for the Committee Day function.

When will committees begin meeting?  The initial committee meeting will be held at 4:00 pm on July 22, 2010, at the Baton Rouge Country Club, Fairway Room (8551 Jefferson Highway).

How often do committees meet?  While every committee is different, they generally meet 1 or 2 times per year.

BATON ROUGE TOWN HALL MEETING

Learn about current and evolving issues facing the CPA profession locally, nationally and internationally and how they can impact you and your firm or company in this unique, participatory program.

The LCPA's Town Hall Meeting is an opportunity for Baton Rouge Chapter members to stay up to date on the latest topics, including International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), recent federal and state legislation, and the Global Financial Crisis and its impact on the accounting profession.

The Town Hall format is an interactive session that provides a forum for you not only to learn about the profession's current issues, but also to voice your concerns. What keeps you up at night? We want to hear what's on your mind. Your input guides the program's direction.
