LCPA Offers $1000s in Scholarships

The LCPA offers scholarships in varying amounts every year to accounting students in Louisiana through the LCPA Education Foundation and through the Society’s chapters.

The LCPA Education Foundation was established to further the development of accounting education and the accounting profession in Louisiana. To date, the Foundation has awarded over $200,000 to 240 accounting students.    Students are selected based on academic merit and achievement (2.50 or better); and an essay. They must be at least a fifth semester student enrolled in an accounting program in a Louisiana four-year college or university.

Amounts awarded are based on donations made to the Foundation by LCPA members through their dues statements. The Foundation also maintains an endowment to sustain the scholarship money for students in the future. Several memorial scholarships have been established to honor deceased LCPA members.

In addition to supporting prospective accounting students, the Foundation also provides funding to future educators. In response to the current nationwide shortage of accounting faculty at the university level, the Foundation dedicated one scholarship each year to a Ph.D. candidate.

All LCPA scholarships, including the Kit Smith, Alex Postlethwaite, Richard Roth, and Will Elliott scholarships, will be awarded each Spring.
