Fact Sheet
Established in 1911, the Society of Louisiana Certified
Public Accountants (LCPA) is a growing, dynamic, non-profit
association serving a diverse membership of CPAs in
private industry, public practice, government and education.
With an eye on the future and roots in preserving the
CPA designation, LCPA is committed to helping its more
than 6,200+ members meet the challenges and seize the
opportunities within the CPA profession.
The mission of the Society is to serve the common
needs of its members and to enhance the professional
environment in which they work. LCPA is dedicated to
serving its members by supplying the necessary support
to improve their competency and professionalism, advocating
their causes in the government arena and promoting
their services among the public.
The Society of Louisiana Certified Public Accountants
is based in Kenner, Louisiana. From its administrative
headquarters in Kenner, the LCPA's purpose is to:
- unify the accountancy profession in Louisiana as
constituted by the Certified Public Accountants of
the state;
- to promote and maintain high professional and moral
standards within the accountancy profession;
- to assist in the maintenance of high standards
for the Certified Public Accountant certificate in
the state;
- to develop and maintain standards for the examination
of candidates for admission to the Society;
- to advance accounting research;
- to develop and improve accountancy education; to
promote the public interest as it is affected by
the practice of accountancy; and
- to encourage cordial relations among Certified
Public Accountants in the United States of America
and accountants of similar status in other countries
of the world.
The LCPA is comprised of 9 chapters throughout
Louisiana. The Society has 30 committees
and task forces which consist of member volunteers
who work collectively to address relevant issues such
as accounting, career awareness, technology, state
and federal taxation, ethics and legislation.
A 20-member Board
of Directors is elected each year by the membership
and manages the activities of the Society. A professional staff assists with daily activities
at the Kenner office.
