Position Overview
The Society of Louisiana Certified Public Accountants (LCPA) seeks a
proactive, articulate and visionary leader with unquestioned integrity
for the position of Executive Director. Responsibilities include: management
of staff to achieve organizational goals; member service and relationship
building; acting as primary spokesperson; engaging in legislative activities
at the state level and with Louisiana’s federal congressional delegation;
overall organization and fiscal management; establishing and maintaining
strong working relationships with other groups and organizations to further
LCPA’s mission; collaborate with LCPA’s current President
and Board of Directors to fulfill LCPA’s strategic plan. Statewide
and national travel required.

Established in 1911, LCPA is a non-profit, professional organization with
more than 6,000 members statewide working in public practice, industry,
government and education. As the premier organization of accountants
in Louisiana, LCPA is committed to serving its members by supplying the
necessary support to improve their competency and professionalism, advocating
their causes in the governmental arena, and promoting their services
among the public. LCPA operates on an annual budget of $4 million and
includes a staff of approximately 20 people.

Executive Director’s Principal Duties and
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with board of directors and implement
long and short-term strategic plans, annual budgets, policies, as well
as any organizational changes needed to accomplish LCPA’s goals
and vision.
- Responsible for overall member recruitment,
participation, satisfaction and retention efforts.
- Work to maintain and
strengthen the public image of the CPA profession and enhance the value
of the CPA certificate to all members.
- Act as the primary spokesperson
for the profession in Louisiana to the media, the public and other specific
groups.
- Serve as a proactive leader in legislative activities
at the state level and with Louisiana’s federal congressional
delegation and will be a Louisiana registered lobbyist.
- Represent LCPA and engage
with the Louisiana State Board of CPAs, the AICPA, NASBA and other state
and national organizations.
- Management of staff, as well as services
and programs, including oversight of a $4 million annual operating budget
that serves more than 6,000 members.
- Coordinate all board of directors’,
executive committee, and other meetings as required.
- Execute contracts
and commitments as may be authorized by the board, executive committee
or established policies.
- Requires both statewide and national travel.
Qualifications and Experience Requirements
- High
integrity, ethics and character
- Strategic leadership and strong management
and communications skills, including public speaking and professional
relationship management
- A track record of success as a key executive
- Skills in areas of motivation, negotiation and
diplomacy
- A general comprehension of emerging trends in
information technology
- Knowledge of and familiarity with issues facing
the profession and the ability to envision creative solutions
- Baccalaureate
degree or equivalent professional experience
- CPA designation preferred
Compensation and Benefits
LCPA will offer a package of compensation commensurate with the qualifications
of the individual selected.
